How can i Calm my Anxiety in the Moment
When anxiety hits out of nowhere, it can feel like your body completely takes over before your mind even gets a say. Over the years, I've learned that trying to talk myself out of that physical surge almost never works. What actually helps me are a few soft, simple things I can reach for right in the moment to bring myself back to center: ๐ฟ Grounding through my senses: Scanning the room and noticing a few real, physical objects around me. It pulls my mind out of the "what-ifs" and brings me right back into the exact space I'm sitting in. ๐ฟ Gentle movement: Taking a slow walk around the house, swaying gently, or rolling my shoulders back to release that bottled-up physical tension. ๐ฟ A slow exhale: Lengthening my exhale to help my heart rate settle and give my body a physical sign that it's safe to relax a little. ๐ฟ A soothing touch: Placing a hand over my heart or on my belly—just a quiet, reassuring gesture to remind myself that I'm safe right here....
