Physical Symptoms of Anxiety
For so many of our clients, the body realizes anxiety is present long before the mind ever registers it.
It often shows up in the quietest ways: a sudden tightness in your chest, a knot in your stomach, or catching yourself holding your breath while working through an ordinary task.
Then you're left sitting there trying to figure out why you feel so off when nothing is actually "wrong."
Anxiety doesn't always begin with a noisy, racing brain.
So often, it shows up physically first, restlessness in your limbs, shoulders pulled up toward your ears, trouble sleeping, or a heavy weight that's hard to explain.
That’s why simply telling yourself to "just calm down" rarely works.
Your brain might logically know you’re safe, but your nervous system is still holding onto that stress response.
Instead of trying to logic your way through it, your body needs a direct, physical signal that it's okay to let its guard down.
That might look like a slow, deliberate exhale, feeling the floor firm underneath your feet, or placing a hand over your heart to anchor yourself right here in the present.
If you ever feel on edge when everything around you seems quiet, please know you aren't broken.
It’s simply your body’s way of asking for a little extra care and grounding. 🌿
Save this post for a moment when you need a gentle reminder to pause and check in with your physical self. 📌
