Things That Can Happen During Therapy
There’s so much healing and growth that can take place when you’re in therapy, but there are some things you might experience that you might not be aware of.
You might experience…
- Emotional Release: Crying, laughing, or feeling various emotions are all normal as you explore your thoughts and feelings.
- Validation and Support: Feeling heard and validated by your therapist can be incredibly empowering.
- Confusion or Doubt: It's normal to question if therapy is working or to feel unsure about the process at times.
- Increased Self-Awareness: You’ll likely become more attuned to your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
- Insights and Realizations: You might have "aha" moments where you gain new understanding about yourself or your behavior.
- Uncomfortable Feelings: Discussing difficult topics may bring up discomfort or anxiety, which is a natural part of the healing process.
We want you to know that all of these things are completely okay. Therapy is a space that is created for your emotional and mental weights to be held.
