Requirements for Therapist in Berkeley


LIFE BY DESIGN THERAPY IS LOOKING FOR A FULL-TIME CLINICIAN TO JOIN OUR DOWNTOWN BERKELEY OFFICE.

Clinical therapist will provide outpatient individual and group therapy to clients of Life by Design Therapy. Clinical therapy services include treatment of adults, adolescents, children, couples and families. Treatment specialties may include; somatic, transpersonal, children, couples, trauma, EMDR, family, EFT, etc.

CANDIDATE WILL BE EMPLOYEE STATUS. MUST BE AVAILABLE TO START ON OCTOBER 15TH OR NOVEMBER 1ST.

Hours:
Therapist must be available to hold at least 20 client sessions per week, provided such sessions are available and scheduled by Life by Design Therapy. Therapist can set their own schedule within the hours provided below.
Tuesdays 8 AM — 8 PM, Wednesdays 4 PM — 9 PM, Thursdays 8 AM — 12 PM, Saturdays 8 AM — 8 PM, Sundays 8 AM — 8 PM
**Work hours and schedule may vary depending on client and Life by Design Therapy needs. Hours include some nights (1–2 minimum) and/or weekends.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:
  • Master’s Degree or Doctoral Degree in counseling, psychology, or social work; and
  • Active, unrestricted license (PhD, PsyD, LCSW, LMFT or LCPC) in the State of CA (must be fully licensed). A copy must be provided to Life by Design Therapy.
  • Available to hold at least 20 client sessions per week, provided such sessions are available and scheduled by Life by Design Therapy.
  • Must have competency in providing a form of holistic psychotherapy to clients. (Somatic, Transpersonal, Expressive Arts, Hakomi, etc.)
  • Have experience and a dedication to supporting POC, LGBTQIA+, and interracial/multicultural couples and families.
  • Must be open and willing to provide community offerings in the form of group therapy, workshops, speaking engagements, trainings, blogging, etc.
  • Candidates must not work in another group or solo practice.
Other Qualification Preferences:
  • Prior experience in a private practice setting.
  • At least two years’ experience post-unrestricted licensure.
  • Have at least one niche market for counseling services (i.e., children, teens, trauma, anxiety, grief, anger management, etc.).
  • Willing and able to commit to Life by Design Therapy for at least 2 years.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Perform on-site clinical counseling services to clients of Life by Design Therapy, as scheduled, and in accordance with company policies.
  2. Regular and reliable attendance and timely arrival to work is required.
  3. Proper Licensing and must abide by all laws, rules, regulations, and codes of ethics that are binding upon or applicable to the services performed for Life by Design Therapy.
  4. Respond to clients’ requests for service or calls within 24 hours whether such requests are made in person, by phone, voicemail, etc. or through the Life by Design Therapy website. Respond to such requests by meeting, evaluating, and providing services to such clients.
  5. Communicate with a client’s treatment team (i.e., PCP, psychiatrist, school, etc.) as necessary.
  6. Timely complete written records for each client including, but not limited to: intake notes, progress notes, treatment plans, termination notes, contract notes, and other forms or documents which may be needed or required from time-to-time by Life by Design Therapy or third parties in conjunction with the treatment of the patient within a timely fashion (by Friday of each week). Keep client files accurate and up to date.
  7. Charge and collect payments from clients for services provided consistent with the policy and rate for such services as established by Life by Design Therapy.
  8. Attend mandatory staff meetings and training as directed by Life by Design Therapy.
  9. Conduct and regulate counseling services in a professional manner so as to maintain and increase the good will and reputation of Life by Design Therapy. Be respectful of and cooperative and collaborative with co-workers.
  10. Other duties which may be assigned by Life by Design Therapy.
